Covid canceled so many events and gatherings all over the country. This year has been a year of comebacks for many of these. Railroad Days in Downtown Russell will be back bigger and better than ever on June 24-25.
Sarah Gabbard says “It was really important to the city council and the mayor that this event makes a comeback and provide free entertainment for the whole family. Everyone wanted something that would cater to all ages and offer free entertainment. Revitalize Russell joined forces with the city to make this the best event possible.”
“The city and sponsors have made sure that everything non-vendor-related is free. The Cincinnati Circus will be here performing three shows on Friday and three on Saturday. There will be free inflatables, balloon artists, face painting, and train rides. Honey Hill Farm Petting Zoo is bringing their animals to Railroad Days on Saturday, June 25th from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm,” she says.
Borders Sporting Goods will host an Archery Fun Shoot Out on Saturday, June 25th from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the Archery course which is free of charge. Experienced archers are encouraged to bring their traditional and compound bows and arrows with practice tips. Crossbows will not be permitted. This is a perfect event for everyone in the family to shoot together. Archers will shoot targets at distances matched with their skill level. Lots of prizes and the grand prize is a PSE EVOLVE 28.
Food Trucks will be located on Boyd Street, Family District will be located in the area of Bellefonte Street, and concerts will be on Ferry Street.
“There is a new event happening which will be a 10k bike race. There is an entry fee to participate, and each entry will receive a shirt and goodie bag,” Sarah shares.
Many downtown stores will be hosting sidewalk sales during the event so you can really see what all Russell has to offer.
Friday will be Country/Bluegrass night for concerts and will feature Ned Crisp and the Bottomline Band followed by Terry Hall. The Headliners will be Hammertown followed by Josh Brown and the Hard Livin Legends. Saturday will present Casey Hensley, Jonathan Cox, The Sugarbeats, Clifton Ross, Larry Pancake, and Shelby Lore and the headliners will be Emmy Davis followed by Holly Forbes to close out the show.
On Friday the Circus will perform at 5:00 pm, 7:00 pm, and 9:00 pm. Saturday they will perform at 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm, and 7:00 pm.
The family area will also have DJ services by Sterling Entertainment.
Sarah ended with “We are really excited for normalcy, and we are going big and free for our first year back since COVID started”
